Sometimes life has a funny way of bringing old friends back into your world. My dear school friend Beverly Taylor, (nee Rouse) and I first met more than 50 years ago, but when her family relocated after she left school, we lost touch. Then, many years later, we found our way back into each other’s lives — and I’m so very glad we did.
Recently, while travelling around New Zealand, she came to stay with us for a couple of days. Naturally, she met the Quiet Paws residents… and promptly fell in love with them! 😂. She loved them all, but Dennis definitely managed to work his particular magic. He was her favourite — although I suspect he would tell you that he chose her. 😹

Before she left, she very generously left a donation for Quiet Paws — and this is now the second time she has donated more than $50 to help the cats in our care. As a small, independent rescue, every donation genuinely makes a difference. It helps us keep food bowls filled, litter trays clean and, most importantly, gives the cats who come through our doors the care and security they need.

But this one is especially meaningful because it comes from someone who has known me since those schoolgirl days, disappeared from my life for many years, and then came back into it again. To have her not only reconnect with me, but embrace the little world of Quiet Paws and choose to support it too, is something I’m incredibly grateful for.

Thank you, my dear friend, for coming back into my life, for loving our cats, and for helping me care for them. And Dennis? Well, he says the donation was lovely, but obviously his irresistible charm was the real reason. They recently very generously provided us with a wonderful food parcel for our rescue and community cats, and I cannot tell you how much this kind of support means.

Running a small, home-based rescue and continuing to feed and care for our street cats takes an enormous amount of food — so every bit of help makes a real difference.

I am incredibly grateful to the SPCA for recognising what we are doing and for getting behind Quiet Paws Creations & Streetcat Rescue. It means so much to know that we have wonderful local organisations supporting the work we do for cats who otherwise might have nobody.
