Sylvester

 UPDATE:

A surprise awaited us at Sylvester’s vet visit today — despite all the tomcat swagger, spraying, and tough-guy behaviour, it turns out he was already desexed! With his tiny “pom-poms” causing much confusion and debate here at home, we certainly didn’t expect that outcome. As he had no microchip and appears to spend much of his time roaming the streets between food stops, the vet microchipped him while he was there so that, wherever life takes him next, he now has a permanent link back to safety and care. Sometimes these streetcats arrive with more of their story already written than we realise. I've advertised him on fb local pages to see if he has an owner,  but I am not sure he does as he arrived here 3 months ago so skinny,  and matted fur and very wormy.  Since my feeding him and worming he's gained good weight and craves attention...but will see what happens....watch this space

Today, Sylvester was safely trapped ahead of tomorrow’s vet visit — always the hardest and most emotional part of the process for us. He first arrived about three months ago after apparently hearing rumours about the fees-free restaurant here, and has faithfully returned for breakfast, lunch, and dinner ever since!

So far he has proven to be wonderfully affectionate, completely food obsessed, and far more socialised than we first realised, while still carrying all the rough-around-the-edges charm of a true streetcat. Like most tuxedos, he’s also a bit of a troublemaker with the other strays, apparently convinced he’s the boss — even if his pom-poms are nearly non-existent! (Which ALSO confuses ME!). All will be revealed at the vets tomorrow and I will update tomorrow what exactly he is!

Between the head rubs, loud opinions, and uncertain future is a cat standing at a crossroads, with tomorrow likely to help decide what direction the next chapter of his life will take.
